Indigo - Dealing with others' opinions
I, as an indigo, love to have respect and tolerance of other opinions. I like pink, you like red. I like Rainbow Brite, you like pokemon. I like pizza, you like ice cream. Those are all harmless differences, and everyone should respect them. However, as soon as a difference of opinion becomes harmful to another person or animal, or harmful to the indigos' mission objective to build a kind, peaceful world, then it should no longer be tolerated. I'm not saying the disagreeing person should be treated in a mean way, but the indigos should do whatever nice things they can to try to get them to change their ways. In fact, it's definitely important NOT to yell at them or anything, because being nice is more likely to convince them. I do recognize though that if it still seems like they're not gonna change, it would probably be good to back off - but only with that particular person! I'd continue to advocate for things that are kind, and if the situation came up with someone else, I'd try to do the same thing. Here's some examples of some opinions that shouldn't be had. In these cases, holding these opinions also means forcing them on someone else. The butcher at the meat plant thinks it's okay to kill cows in a cruel manner, and therefore because he holds that opinion, hundreds of cows ACTUALLY DO get killed in a cruel manner. The butcher's opinion is being forced on the cows, who probably don't wanna die. The cows have opinions of their own but "oh, they're just cows so their opinions don't matter!". If that butcher ever tells someone to be respectful of others' opinions, he's a hypocrite. A parent forbids their teenage son from playing with dolls. In this case, it's not a matter of respecting the parent's opinion, but a matter of the parent not respecting the opinion of the son. The son wants to play with dolls, the parent holds the opinion that he should conform, and thus forces their opinion on him by forbidding him. It is judgemental, it is mean, and is a threat to what the indigos want to accomplish. Note that, for example, if the cow person has the opinion - and ONLY the opinion - that it's okay to kill cows, and doesn't ACTUALLY DO IT or support it in some way, that would be okay. But that's pretty much impossible, because if you have that opinion, you are likely to actually do it or support it in some way (ie by eating meat and giving the meat companies money). So having the opinion and doing the act/supporting it pretty much come hand in hand. If any meat eaters are offended by this page, then I'm sorry. It's just a strong belief of mine so I used it as an example. :) |
